Letters have changed form, axis and weight following the latest fashion. This evening’s talk starts with proto-sinaitic, the root ancestor common to Hebrew, European, Arabic letters, and the source of the phonecian alphabet. It is followed by three thousand years of the influences of war, conquests, and multi-cultural communities on letterform history ending with twentieth century and post 9/11 letterforms.
